I posted this on my Instagram @PasadenaMom last month, but I felt like it needs its own post on the blog. Be. Do. Have. It’s such a simple concept but easy to forget when you’re caught up in the “doing” and “having” more. When my husband and I first learned the concept of Be.Do.Have. we were still in our early 20s, before kids, just grinding it out at whatever job we were at. When you’re just working to live your day to day, the idea of “being” anything or anyone seems like something far-fetched in the future. We’re usually taught to “do” more, then “have” enough to “be” someone. Want to be successful? Then, do your job well, have enough money, and then.. then you will be successful.
Be. Do. Have. challenges us to be the person we know we can be - kind, loving, generous, brave, whatever your core values are - so we can act and do things accordingly - try new things that excite us, pivot when something isn’t serving us, give back to our community - and, by being the person we want to be and doing the things that are in alignment with who we are… then what we can have is abundant - gratitude, hope, courage, and yes… $$$!
To be honest, we aren’t always operating out of Be.Do.Have. because sometimes it’s easy to fall back and ignore how we have to be and just focus on doing more and more. I’m hoping having this Letterfolk board up in our room will serve as a constant reminder to focus on our family core values and teach our kids the value of Be.Do.Have. 💫
What are some of your family’s core values? I would love to hear them in the comments below!
