I was born in Southern California in 1984. My mom was a single Asian woman in her 30s who moved from her beloved country of Taiwan to the U.S. to give birth to her only daughter (me) and live her American Dream 🇺🇸 Because of her, I got to live her American Dream from our tiny one bedroom apartment in the San Gabriel Valley to her successes in business that allowed me to have the privileges I have today.
I share this story today because I grew up learning our country’s history as my own, loving and believing in the democracy of our country and that all men (and women) are created equal in the United States of America. And today, I am so excited and proud that I get to see someone who was raised by a single immigrant mother become the first female VP-elect. There is so much work to be done in our country to love and respect one another. My American Dream is to one day take a road trip across the country without fear of how I’ll be treated based on the color of my skin. I hope we are all one step closer to that dream. ♥️
Congratulations to our new President and Vice President-elect, Joe Biden & Kamala Harris! ✨
